This Cookie Policy applies to the institutional website biographylibrary.org, built on WordPress and hosted on Infomaniak infrastructure in Switzerland.

⚠️ The Biography Library platform (the biographical archive itself) is not yet online. When it becomes available, this Cookie Policy will be updated with a dedicated section describing the platform-specific cookies and technical mechanisms.

 

2. Hosting and Access Statistics

The website biographylibrary.org is hosted by Infomaniak SA (Switzerland). Infomaniak collects server access statistics through system logs — not through third-party tracking cookies or scripts. These logs record technical data such as anonymised IP address, pages visited, access time and browser type, exclusively for security purposes and aggregated traffic analysis.

This data remains on Swiss infrastructure and is not shared with third parties.

 

3. Cookies Present on the Website

The website biographylibrary.org uses exclusively necessary technical cookies. We do not use profiling cookies, advertising cookies or any third-party trackers of any kind.

3.1 WordPress Technical Cookies

WordPress may set some technical cookies on your device. For non-registered visitors, no cookies are normally set. The following cookies concern site administrators only:

3.3 SEO — Rank Math

The website uses Rank Math SEO PRO for search engine optimisation management. Rank Math operates primarily server-side and through page metadata. It does not set tracking or profiling cookies on visitors.

 

4. What We Do NOT Use

For explicit clarity:

• ❌ No social media tracking pixels of any kind
• ❌ No advertising or remarketing cookies
• ❌ No behavioural profiling systems
• ❌ No cross-site tracking
• ❌ No data sent to servers outside Switzerland

Should we introduce traffic analytics tools in the future, we will use exclusively self-hosted solutions in Switzerland, with prior notice to users and an update to this policy.

 

5. Legal Basis

The technical cookies listed in this policy do not require consent, as they are strictly necessary for the website to function and to provide the service requested by the user, pursuant to Swiss nFADP law and the GDPR for European users.

As no profiling or marketing cookies are present, no cookie consent banner is shown to ordinary visitors of the public website.

7. Future Updates — Biography Library Platform

When the Biography Library platform goes online, this policy will be updated to include:

• Technical session cookies for the authenticated platform
• Security cookies (CSRF protection, etc.)
• User preference cookies
• Any further technical details related to the biographical archive

The platform will not use profiling or third-party tracking cookies, in line with the Non-Negotiable Principles of the Biography Library Manifesto and with the commitments stated in the Privacy Policy.
